Introduction
Today we're launching Upsells, a new way for hotels to sell services and add-ons directly in chat. Create the items you want to offer, set the rules, and your AI agent handles the rest: quoting the price, sending a custom payment link, confirming the booking, and notifying your team.
Ancillary revenue lives in messages
Every hotel has the same conversation ten times a day. A guest asks about an airport transfer. Another wants a spa treatment. A third needs a late check-out. These requests come in over WhatsApp, Instagram, and other channels, often at 11pm when the front desk is already running thin.
In theory, each of these is revenue. In practice, a lot of it is lost. Someone on staff has to quote the price, find the right vendor, send a payment link from another system, wait for the guest to pay, then update the booking. Half the requests don't close because the back-and-forth takes too long or happens outside the right hours. The other half close eventually but eat up hours of staff time that should go to guests in the lobby.
We've watched this play out across our customers for the past year. The same guests who would happily pay $45 for a transfer often never actually book it, because between the request and the payment link, something breaks.
Upsells closes that gap.
How it works
When you enable Upsells, you build a catalog of what your hotel sells. Transfers, spa treatments, tours, late check-outs, parking, day passes, private dinners, whatever makes sense for your property. For each item, you set the price and the rules for when your agent should offer it.
From there, your agent takes over. When a guest asks about a service, your agent recognizes the intent, quotes the price, generates a unique payment link, confirms once payment goes through, and notifies your team. The guest sees a smooth conversation.
You connect your bank account to Visito once, and every payment moves directly from guest to the hotel.
Teams are already using Upsells to:
- Book airport transfers and private drivers when guests ask about pickups
- Sell spa treatments, tours, and day passes during pre-arrival conversations
- Charge for late check-outs, early check-ins, and parking on the day of departure
What's next
Upsells is the third pillar of what your agent can do for you, alongside AI Support (inbound automation) and Guest Campaigns (outbound lifecycle messaging). The pattern is the same one we keep coming back to: take the work that used to require a human at a desk during business hours, and let your agent handle it in chat, at any hour, in any language.
Over the coming months we'll expand Upsells with a marketplace of pre-built partner services, support for recurring charges, and deeper PMS integration so that every upsell updates the folio automatically.
